The mission of the Native Daughters of the Golden West, as one of the oldest associations of diverse California born leaders, is to preserve California’s history and better the quality of life through active participation in education and community service. All our meetings are open to the public and to potential new members, so why not pay us a visit.
VENDOME PARLOR NO. 100
Instituted November 13, 1897
(Santa Clara County)
The organizer of the Parlor, Miss Tillie Brohaska, played the piano in the Brohaska Orchestra at the Vendome Hotel. In the 1890's and early 1900s, the hotel was San Jose's leading hotel. When the Parlor was organized the hotel manager allowed the ladies to meet at the hotel, and in appreciation, the Parlor was named Vendome. This building is no longer in existence. The hotel is pictured on the Parlor seal.
